First of all, thank you so much to Oleg for his wonderful plugin that protected my phpbb2 forums for a long time.
Sadly last week, phpbb3 was also broken by the spammers. The whole phpbb site is offline and has apparantly had all it's user accounts stolen! It's a bit of a disaster for them, and users around the world have no idea what's going to happen.
Luckily I found that I can use Advanced Textual Confirmation with phpbb3, so I installed it and it has once again saved my forums, thank you Oleg!!!
Also I want to ask, Oleg ae you still active here? Your blog hasn't been updated in months and I thought you might have some things to say about the current phpbb situation! Please keep us up-to-date with developments as you are the one who is protecting us better than the phpBB authors themselves, who are so naieve as to rely on silly unreadable Captchas that are unreadable for humans, but no barrier to spambots! Have you thought about making a deal with them to incorporate your code into phpbb itself? That's what really needs to happen, so that forums can be secure by default, not relying on pure hope! |

Hello Garry,
thanks for the message!

Not much. The tools (Textual Confirmation and Advanced Textual Confirmation) are still so good that no update required. Therefore, I pay less and less attention to the project.

The phpBB developers have theirs own ideas how to implement spam protection. No way for Textual Confirmation. _________________ Oleg Parashchenko, bbAntiSpam
